Burkley's Baptism

Lanse and Burkley before Baptism

Burkley had a very special day on Saturday, Jan.5,2013. He was Baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. We are so proud of him. It was a very special time for him and you could tell how special the day was for him just by looking at his face. You couldnt wipe the smile off his face if you tried. He woke up that morning, his Baptism was a 10:30 am. I told him and Sam to go upstairs and get ready, there was all kinds of noise and confusion happening up there after a few moments, so I decided I better go up and find out what was happening. Well, boys will be boys and my boys were having a arguement over both of them telling each other "I see london, I see france......." you get the idea. I put that to a stop so we could try to have some kind of spirit in our home before we headeed over to the Baptism. I turned and looked at Burkley and just couldnt believe my eyes. Here he was, getting dressed, and he put his church pants on backwards. I just could not understand how anyone could possibly put thier pants on backwards and do them up and think it was correct. I asked him what in the world he was thinking, but I got no response, which is normal of Burk. I brought him to the stairs to show Lanse because I just wasnt sure what to say to him. Lanse just laughed and said "Burkley, how do you plan on doing up your zipper?" He just kindof sat there with that HUH? look. Well back to his room we sent him to figure out how to dress himself. It was just a few minutes later, and downstairs he came, he looked handsome as every and was ready for his Baptism. We got to the church and waited for Lanse and Burk to come into the chapel for the baptism to begin, and it was so beautiful to see them both come in with thier white clothes on. Burkley just had this huge smile on his face. It was great to see! Aspen was one of the speakers and he gave such a great talk on the Holy Ghost and shared a special experience he had, and Alyssa was suppose to give the closing prayer, but she was terribly ill, so Alexis gave it. I think this ment alot to Burkley because we let him choose who did what, and they did it just for him and it made it very special. As we moved into the font area, Burkley was first to be Baptized. Thier was 4 boys on this day. I dont know if it is just me, or if other mother's feel this way, but to see you husband who is worthy to Baptize your children, and to see your child enter into the water, just makes me want to cry. It is very special to me. He was Baptized and then went back into the chapel and was confirmed a member of the church. Lanse did a beautiful job with the confirmation, and Burkley was glowing. You could tell that he was so happy and it ment something to him. Later that evening we took him out to dinner and gave him some special gifts that people had brought for him and made it a evening just about him. I hope that this will be a day that he will never forget, and that he will always remember how special this day was for him. We are very proud of him and the choice he made. He is a very special boy with a beautiful spirit.
